Peter
Peter Waldner

Growing up in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Peter Waldner began drawing as soon as he was old enough to
hold a pencil.  As a child he spent his summers on Shelter Island, where he experimented with creating
art out of sand, shells and rocks.  After studying studio art and film-making at Elmira College, Peter
went on to do postgraduate studies at The Parsons School of Design and Southampton College.  He
became a full-time resident of Shelter Island in 1980, where he continued to create artwork out of the
natural resources while being inspired by the beauty of the island to paint local scenes in all mediums.
His acrylic, colored-pencil, and pastel fine art has been featured in numerous art shows, including three
one-man shows.  Throughout his career he has also enjoyed painting murals and portraits as well as
creating the scenery for local theater productions.

Peter's sense of humor has always found expression, most directly in
his cartooning.  In 1993 he became the editorial cartoonist for
The
                                            Shelter Island Reporter
and continues in that position today.  His
cartoons have won several awards from the New York Press Association,
including a First Place in the Editorial Division.  Peter published a
broader range of his cartoons in
The East End Rubber Chicken, a newspaper
he wrote, edited, and published for three years on the North End of  Long
                                            Island.  He gave up
The Rubber Chicken when his cartoon, Flight Deck,  was
picked up by
Creators Syndicate.  Flight Deck has been in syndication since 1998, appearing in
newspapers from the
Los Angeles Daily News to the New York Daily News.  In addition, Peter's cartoons
have been featured on everything from  T-shirts to greeting cards.

international sculptor Robert Cronbach.  Peggy has been featured in numerous art shows and has been

Joe Mure

Joe Mure grew up on the south shore of Long Island, New York, a member of the class of 1971.  A hands-
on, Mr. Fix-It type of person, he has always searched for  creative outlets.  His artistic nature found its
first expression in painting murals of popular 70’s rock music legends.  Photography was the next media
that became a passion and for years he was immersed in a macro world, seeking beauty in nature, close
up.  A few years ago Joe purchased an antique stained glass window and became fascinated with this
art form.  After studying how the window was made, he jumped in to make his first piece and then
honed his skills under the tutelage of a master craftsman.  Joe considers each piece a true labor of love,
from the conception of the piece, to the selection of the glass, through to the actual fabrication of the
window, a process that typically takes between 60 and 100 hours.  Joe sees stained glass as an art inside
a craft as it allows him to express himself as an artist while using his abilities as a craftsman.  While his
stained glass already enhances the beauty of numerous homes on Long Island, Wish Rock Studio is
pleased to offer the first public exhibit of his art.
